Pumps, mixers, reactors

The most popular layout drawings of DGS cartridges for pumps are tandem “face-to-face” ones with a double-sided seat.

The peculiar feature of design is maintenance of sealing proofness within ceasing of buffer gas supply. Depending on  composition of sealed ambient and buffer gas the DGS system can be equipped with a barrier labyrinth and a screw seal. Materials (case parts, sealing pairs, secondary seals, etc.) used in DGS cartridges are thoroughly selected according to the conditions of sealing ambient corrosion proofness.

Specifications:

  • sealing pressure – up to 20 kg/cm2;
  • sealing temperature – up to 250 ºС (special design – up to 450 ºC);
  • peripheral speed of rotating seat – up to 80 m/sec;
  • sealing shaft diameter – up to 200 mm.

Advantages of DGS Systems usage in Centrifugal Compressors:

  • full elimination of fluid leakages;
  • absence of pumped medium contamination by means of buffer fluid (what is important when high clearness of pumped medium is needed);
  • loss reduction of energy which is spent on friction overcoming in the seal (due to absence of fluid friction energy losses in the DGS are 10 times lower than in wet seals);
  • increase of DGS service life what saves money on refurbishment and spare parts substitution (as far as between the working surfaces of the sealing pair there is a little gap, sealing pair deteriorations is almost absent by continuous gas supply);
  • reduction of expenses on the buffer system (as buffer system is much simpler than the wet one and does nor require considerable expense on its preparation works);
  • elimination of water expenses (as DGS does not require washing during the operation process);
  • tightness maintaining within the back pressure (within buffer gas supply failure DGS keeps its working ability and prevents leakages of the pumping fluid into the atmosphere)
  • it is possible to manufacture bi-directional seals.

Dry Gas Seals for Mixers

The most popular DGS unit layout drawing for mixers is “face-to-face”. Depending on the sealing ambient and buffer gas DGS system can be equipped with the end labyrinth and inner helical seal.  There are special seal designs for mixers with low rotor rotation frequency.

Materials (case parts, sealing pair, secondary seals, etc), used in the DGS cartridges are selected depending on the conditions of sealing ambient corrosion proofness.

Specifications:

  • sealing pressure – up to 40 kg/cm2;
  • sealing temperature – up to 250 ºС (special design – up to 450 ºC);
  • shaft diameter under the seal – up to 200 mm;
  • rotation frequency – up to 0,5 rpm.

Advantages of DGS Systems usage in Mixers:

  • full leakages elimination by mixing process;
  • loss reduction of energy spent on friction overcoming;
  • increase of DGS service life what saves money on refurbishment and spare parts substitution;
  • expenses decrease on buffer ambient breachblock;
  • possibility of bi-directional seals manufacturing, which simplifies their assembling, allows to decrease the maintenance time and eliminates the assembling error.
